The European Forum for Risk and Insurance professionnals
Why is participating at a European risk management event is important for you?
The latest climate science shows that action to address business and investment risks is more urgent than ever, and that these risks are no longer « long-term ». The difference between taking bold action now to address risks and not doing so is trillions in dollars of difference to the global economy, as well as catastrophic impacts on our ecosystems, agriculture and societies.
What does « Aim for the future » mean to you?
It’s clear that to prevent the worst effects of climate change, little short of a transformation in the way our economy operates will be needed. It’s possible for me to imagine a future with net zero emissions, where transport is fossil-free, our cities are cleaner and the economy is sustainable in the long-term. But we cannot just aim for the future – every actor in society and our economy has to act decisively to achieve it.
You will be presenting « Sustainable Growth », what would you like the audience to remember after your session?
Our economy’s transition to a sustainable model is an opportunity. We already see leading companies from all sectors and future-looking investors aligning their businesses with climate science, reducing their risks and demonstrating sustainable growth is possible. But we need this level of action from all corners of the economy.
