The European Forum for Risk and Insurance professionnals
Heiko Schwarz, Founder and Managing Director Riskmethods
Why is participating at a European risk management event important to you?
The topic of risk management is global, but how organizations and individuals think and execute on it differs among communities. I’m excited to get the European perspective on risk management – to hear from attendees and presenters about their mindset when approaching risk, and to learn what specific risk issues rank as most important to this group.
What does “Aim for the Future” mean to you?
As the discipline of risk management evolves, it’s moving more and more away from reactive processes and toward proactive processes. To me, “Aim for the Future” is about this very important shift. Gone are the days when risk management was about mitigating an event that had already occurred – thanks to today’s advanced technology, managing risk is now about looking to the future and mitigating risk before it actually happens.
You will be presenting « Don’t let the supply chain open the door to cyber criminals », what would you like the audience to remember after your session?
The topic of cyber risk in the supply chain has become a major focus in the last few years, especially after multiple well-publicized incidents of major organizations being affected by the breach of a vendor in their supply chain. One of the keys to addressing cyber risk is to make sure you’re actively monitoring for it in a scalable way – and the key to doing this is to use advanced technology. If you take away one thing from this session, it’s this: You can’t count on being the first call when a cyber breach occurs, so you need to make sure you’re doing your part to stay on top of potential cyber events.
