Big, obvious and coming straight at you: cyber and digital risks
Building Resilience
Tuesday 12 October 2021, 11:00 – 12:30
Covid-19 is systemic, global event. Such disruption has been a fertile ground for hostile groups to invade the digital systems of governments or organisations. The pandemic has also accelerated digitalisation. The speed of change makes cyber and digital risks into grey rhinos – big events that are coming straight at you but for which you aren’t properly prepared. Our growing digital interconnections increase our vulnerability and so raise the likelihood that there will be more systemic events that require exceptional resources.
Key Educational Message
Risk managers will be able to show senior management the need to apply different approaches to static, typically insurable risks and constantly changing, dynamic risks like cyber. They will have realistic viewpoints and some practical examples to illustrate how all players in the value chain need to pay attention to changes in risk. They will be able to explain the need for internal and external co-operation and coordination with other members of the value chain to ensure smooth and continuous functions.
